Rey Cometa

Rey Cometa is a son of Krugerrand, who started out as a pleasure stallion and went to the Mundial (World Show) in Jacksonville, Florida and won in his age class. He later won Reserve champion in his class at Nationals. He has since become Performance in his gait and has won several show Championships in the Performance category. He has good size, a great temperament, and a very consistent gait. His beautiful chestnut color makes him a great choice for breeding to any color mare. With a palomino mare, you would have a 50/50 chance for palomino, maybe one like his Daddy, Kruggerand! John pelaez has trained this horse from the age of two. He is a show stopper!

Valentino At Nationals in 2009

Valentino has enjoyed a great deal of recent success. Here he is at 2010 Nationals.

We also went to the World Cup in Colombia in 2009 to see him perform (below).

We had a surprise baby out of La Valerosa del Rey in June, a colt we think was sired by Salomon. His name is Mysterio de los Lagos. La Novicia de la Luisa had her baby, a beautiful buckskin Compromiso filly, who we've named Contessa de los Lagos. Dominica de Progreso, our other pinto mare, had a solid chestnut filly sired by Salomon. Her name is Arabella de los Lagos, after her grandmother.

2007 was our best year for accomplishments:

Rey Cometa de los Lagos, a Krugerrand son out of our mare Piñata del Impetuoso, won Reserve Champion in the 4 year old Pleasure Colt Class at Nationals (John Pelaez riding). He then went on to the Mundial World Show in Jacksonville, Florida to win First Place in his Pleasure Class, (49-60 month old colts). Our filly, Piraqua de United came in 4th in her 3 year old class at Mundial. John Pelaez did an excellent job of riding these horses and preparing them for this show. John also won First Place in Championship Fino Stallion Class on Heaven's Horses Compromiso del Secreto in his age group.

In 2007, we had no babies for the Paso Fino Department. We had two mares bred but they lost them somewhere along the way. We had two Paint babies, Sabre's Babe and Commanche's Cheyenne (see Paint Page). We had huge rains from January to June. The drought was over!

John's Baby was born August 3, 2005.
Now he is old enough to help Daddy train horses!

We would like to share a few of memorable moments from the Paints and Pasos family. Susie Wilbanks and Krugerrand de Flamenco had an amazing show back in 2002 where they won TWO Championship 1st place ribbons in the Amateur Performance Class at the Hattiesburg show. That was exciting!

One of our trainers, John Jairo Pelaez was the 1st place champion at the Marshall show in March , 2004 aboard our stallion Salomon de United. Congratulations!

Of course, we can't forget about our youngest rider this year (2003), Chrissy Croninger, (our granddaughter, age 7) won 2 first place ribbons in the Lead-line class. Congratulations!

We had a great time at the Rockwall Christmas Parade in 2003. John rode Zeus de Toledito, Susie was aboard one of her favorite Stallions, Salomon de United and Maria Pelaez rode Chocolate JMH. It was a fun and great holiday parade.

Our paint colts, Commanche's Zorro is black and white and born April, 2004. Our other paint is named Commanche's Champ is sorrel and white, born April 2004 as well.

We had four new babies in 2003. Two Paso Fino colts and two Paso Fino Fillies named Rey Cometa de Los Lagos, La Danza de Los Lagos, La Divina de Los Lagos and Sultan de Los Lagos. Three babies out of our beautiful mares were sired by Chaquiro, and one by our own stallion, Krugerrand de Flamenco.

Chaquiro is a black stallion whose babies are winning in the U.S. right now. His excellent bloodlines include Patrimonio del Ocho sired by Amadeus.

We're very proud of this crop of babies. For more details on our 2003 crop, click here.
